PE & Sport Premium

The primary PE and sport premium 2023 to 2024 is paid by the Secretary of State for Education to the local authority, as a grant under section 14 of the Education Act 2002.

The premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, in the 2023 to 2024 academic year, to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

The premium must be spent by schools on making additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE, physical activity and sport for the benefit of all primary-aged pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

This means that we should use the PE and sport premium to:

  • develop or add to the PE, physical activity and sport that your school provides
  • build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

We should use the PE and sport premium to secure improvements in the following 5 key indicators:

  1. Increased participation in competitive sport
  2. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  4. Profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement
  5. Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity

All children in Year 4 are provided with weekly swimming lessons for the academic year.

Sports Premium 2023-24 £17,770
