Jubilee Year 2025
Pope Francis has decided that the Jubilee of 2025 will have the theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope’.
Pilgrims of Hope Hymn
We are proud of our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils who joined with other children and young people from a total of 24 schools across the Salford Schools Singing Programme (SSP) singing 'Pilgrims of Hope' by Francesco Meneghello and Pierangelo Sequeri in anticipation of the 2025 Jubilee Year 'Pilgrims of Hope'.
You can view the YouTube video of them below.
History of Jubilee Years
Since 1300, when Boniface VIII initiated the first Holy Year, initially occurring every hundred years, then adjusted to every fifty years, and eventually settled at every twenty-five years, the celebration has been regarded by God’s holy and faithful people as a unique grace. It is marked by the forgiveness of sins, notably through indulgence, which is a full expression of the mercy of God.
The Jubilee of 2025, will be a year of hope for a world suffering the impacts of war, the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and a climate crisis.
In preparation for the 2025 Jubilee Year “Pilgrims of Hope”, 2024 has been designated a Year of Prayer by Pope Francis. He asks us all to join in a great “symphony” of prayer, “to renew our desire to be in the presence of the Lord, to listen to him and to adore him.”
