This week in Reception we have been taking home our Advent bag to share with our families. We had a thoughtful prayer of hope written which we shared with all the children in class. Thank you for your support at home.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Reception. As part of our celebrations topic, Reception decorated the Christmas tree.
Reception have been making Diya Lamps as part of our work on Diwali.
Diya Lamps are lamps lit during the festival of Diwali to symbolize
prosperity in the new year.
We made the small pots from salt dough and we described them as ‘thumb pots’ as they are made by pressing the thumb into a ball of dough and shaping it.
The next stage of the process will be to paint them bright colours and send them home with a candle read to be lit. The light is intended to cancel out the darkness as we enter the darker month.
Reception enjoyed taking part in an interactive story time during our Hinduism workshop. We really enjoyed looking at all the artefacts and listening to the story of Rama and Sita. We have been learning all about Diwali this week.
Today in Reception, we talked about how we welcome a new baby into a family with cards, gifts and a celebration. To welcome the new babies into our home area we made cards.
In Reception this week, we have continued our work on Baptism. We discussed welcoming others and how we could do this. As part of our discussion, we welcomed each other by blessing our friends with holy water.
